The Crew

Hi, I'm Jonathan. This is my wife Tanya, our son Nicholas, and our dog Clancy, and together we're the crew of Island Belle.

Jonathan

Skipper, still learning

New to boating and learning as I go. I write most of what you read here, and I like fixing things on the boat myself.

Tanya

First mate

She found the boat that became Island Belle, and she took to boat life right from the start.

Crew, when he's aboard

Our son. He was with us for the dinner trip to Gagetown, which is still one of my favourite days on the boat.

Clancy the golden retriever resting his chin on the couch, wrapped in a colourful fleece blanket

Clancy

Ship's dog

Our golden retriever. He rides to shore in the tender like he owns the place.

The boat

Island Belle

A 2000 Chaparral 300 Signature with twin engines and a galley with a coffee maker, which matters more than you'd think. Her name comes from Deer Island and a family cottage on another island nearby.

Why Rising Tides?

The name comes from the saying that a rising tide lifts all boats. I had my grandfather in mind when I picked it.
